Getting Started

Is LancerWise free?

Yes. The free plan lets you manage up to 2 active clients with full access to invoicing, contracts, time tracking, and project management. The Pro plan ($15/mo) unlocks unlimited clients, advanced analytics, AI features, and all premium tools.

Do I need a credit card to sign up?

No. Create your free account with just your email address — no credit card required, ever, until you decide to upgrade.

Can I import my existing client and invoice data?

Yes. Use the CSV import feature (Clients → Import CSV) to bring in your existing client list. Invoice import is also supported from the Invoices section.

How long does setup take?

Most freelancers are fully set up in under 10 minutes. You can add your first client, send your first invoice, and start the time tracker all within a single session.

Does LancerWise work for all types of freelancers?

Yes. LancerWise is used by designers, developers, copywriters, consultants, marketers, videographers, translators, and many other independent professionals. If you invoice clients and track time, LancerWise was built for you.

Billing & Pricing

What is included in the free plan?

The free plan includes: up to 2 active clients, unlimited invoices and contracts for those clients, the time tracker, project management, lead pipeline, and rate calculator. AI features, advanced analytics, and unlimited clients require the Pro plan.

Can I pay annually to save money?

Yes. Annual billing saves you approximately 20% compared to monthly billing. You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time from your Settings → Billing page.

What happens if I downgrade from Pro to free?

All your data is preserved. If you have more than 2 active clients, you will be asked to archive the excess before downgrading. Archived clients can be restored at any time.

Is there a Business plan for agencies?

A Business plan is coming soon — it will provide up to 3 team members, white-label client portal, public API access, team activity dashboard, priority email support, and onboarding consultation. Email support@lancerwise.com to be notified when it launches.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes. If you are not satisfied within the first 14 days of a paid subscription, contact support and we will issue a full refund — no questions asked.

Features

Can clients pay invoices online?

Yes. With online payments on the Pro plan, clients receive a Pay Now button directly on their invoice and can pay by card instantly. Payments are automatically reconciled in LancerWise.

Are e-signatures legally binding?

Electronic signatures on LancerWise comply with the eIDAS regulation (EU) and the ESIGN Act (US). They are legally binding in most jurisdictions worldwide. Each signed contract generates a tamper-evident audit trail.

What AI features are included?

The Pro plan includes AI contract generation, AI proposal writing, AI email drafts, a negotiation coach, scope creep detector, invoice dispute assistant, and a daily business advisor. All AI features run on GPT-4-class models.

Can I track time with a browser extension?

LancerWise includes a built-in timer with Pomodoro mode. A browser extension is on the roadmap. In the meantime, you can start the timer from any project page and it will continue running in the background.

Does LancerWise support multiple currencies?

Yes. LancerWise supports all major world currencies. You can set a default currency in Settings and override it per client or per invoice.

Security & Data

How is my data stored and protected?

All data is stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security enforced at the database level. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit using TLS 1.3. Your data is never shared with third parties or used for advertising.

Can I export all my data?

Yes. Every section of LancerWise — clients, invoices, time entries, contracts, expenses — supports CSV export. You own your data completely and can take it with you at any time.

Does LancerWise support two-factor authentication?

Yes. You can enable TOTP-based two-factor authentication from Settings → Security. We strongly recommend enabling 2FA to protect your financial data.

Account

Can I change my email address?

Yes. Go to Settings → Account to update your email address. A verification link will be sent to your new address before the change takes effect.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. After cancellation, you retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. Your data is preserved and you can reactivate at any time.

How do I permanently delete my account?

Account deletion can be requested from Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes all your data within 30 days. This action cannot be undone — export your data before proceeding.
