LancerWise started as a set of spreadsheets and workarounds. After years of watching good freelancers fail because of bad business operations, we decided to build the platform we always wished existed.
Our Mission
Freelancing is one of the most powerful career paths in the world — you set your own schedule, choose your clients, and build something that is entirely yours. But most freelancers spend 20–30% of their working time on operational tasks: chasing invoices, writing contracts from scratch, manually tracking hours in spreadsheets, and trying to forecast cash flow in their heads.
Our mission is simple: eliminate the operational overhead that holds great freelancers back. When you spend less time on administration, you can take on better clients, do better work, and build a more sustainable business.
How It Started
The idea for LancerWise came from a frustratingly common experience: a client disputing an invoice because the hours were not tracked precisely enough. After spending an entire evening reconstructing time entries from memory and email threads, it became clear that the tools available to freelancers were either too enterprise-heavy, too simple, or simply not built with the freelancer workflow in mind.
The first version was a collection of connected spreadsheets — a client tracker, an invoice generator, a time log, a cash flow projection. It worked, but it was fragile. One wrong formula and everything broke. Every new client required duplicating templates manually.
Over the following months, those spreadsheets became a web app. Features were added based on the most common pain points: contract generation with e-signature, automated payment reminders, a lead pipeline, revenue forecasting. The AI features came later — contract analysis, proposal generation, email drafting — when it became clear that language models could eliminate hours of writing work each week.
Today, LancerWise is used by freelancers across design, development, copywriting, consulting, marketing, and dozens of other fields. The product keeps evolving based on direct feedback from its users — the same people it was built for.
